Ian Nagoski
http://www.redroom.org/individuals/nagoski/
One time Philadelphia-based
electronic musician and reluctant writer and organizer, Nagoski rarely
performs in his hometown. When he does, it is usually in collaboration
with filmmaker and halana magazine ( www.halana.com
)
publisher Chris Rice and Pelt ( www.klang.org
)
guitarist Jack Rose.
When Ian was here, he lived
at the Astrocade facility, and undetook organizing a few shows and brought
microtonal and other experimental artists out of the woodwork. These shows
attested to Nagoski's importance for Philadelphia audiomatheans and monophiles.
In 1999, Ian produced an
album of intense electronic music; Warm Coursing
Blood
was issued under the Colorful Clouds for Acoustics
banner. The album
has been described by Bruce Russell (Corpus Hermeticum, Dead C., etc.)
as ?higher-mind electronics, brutal and unsophisticated on one hand,
beautiful and truly elevating on the other. Listening to this is like examining
fractal images through a microscope - you'll lose your sense of self.?
The disc is available locally through Philadelphia Record Exchange, Spaceboy
and A.K.A. On the web: www.anomalousrecords.com

Since Mid summer 2000, Ian has been living in Baltimore where he has been
closely involved with the Red Room.
